Love Affair Goes Wrong: Brother Pushes Sister into Lake; Mother, in Attempt to Save Her, Drowns

Mysuru: A horrifying incident occurred in Marur of Hunsur taluk, where a 19-year-old girl, Dhanushree, lost her life after being pushed into a lake by her own brother, Nitesh. In a desperate attempt to rescue her daughter, the mother, Anitha (43), also drowned in the tragic incident.

Reports suggest that Dhanushree was involved in a relationship with a youth from another community, a fact that angered Nitesh upon discovery. The family had been embroiled in frequent quarrels over this relationship.

Local sources indicate that the situation escalated when Dhanushree posted a photo on Instagram wearing a burqa and changed her name. Nitesh, aggrieved by this, confronted his sister and mother, leading to a heated altercation.

On Tuesday, Nitesh lured his mother and sister on a bike, claiming he would drop them off at their grandmother’s house in Hammige. However, en route, he stopped the bike near a lake in Marur. In a shocking act, he pushed his sister into the lake. Anitha, witnessing her daughter drowning, bravely attempted to rescue her but tragically succumbed to the watery depths as well.

The Fire and Emergency Department officials were alerted, and on Wednesday morning, they successfully retrieved the lifeless bodies of both Dhanushree and Anitha from the lake.
